The girls are involved in a wonderful drama and arts group called Light of Mine. In addition to their regular practices, they have done lots of service projects. They've designated the next few months the Summer of Service to expand the good things they do.
Today we all got together to do a bit of gardening at the Victorian House, a local assisted living facility. We did lots of weed pulling, raking, sweeping and trash bag stuffing. We worked for about two and a half hours and got lots done.
In their veggie garden plot, Marisa pulled some old carrots that were left over from last year. It was a big thrill for her!
She did alot of sweeping, too, but not much of the dirt made it off the sidewalk.
Jillian brought along a friend from school, Pam, and they hammed it up with another friend from Light of Mine, Kyleigh. They did alot of worm rescuing as they raked leaves. They added them to the flower bed to save their lives and help the flowers. What environmentalists!
